Story:

She Did The Right Thing celebrates my 12-year-old daughter's strength of character when she confided a potentially dangerous situation to me although friends told her not to tell anyone.

After being called a rat by one of those friends, my daughter related how much that bothered her, even though she knew she had done the right thing.

Story (Continued):

On the quilt, the rat is grasping the child who called her names. The sticks, stones, bone, and alphabet fabric are symbolic of the children's saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." The Chinese characters represent (clockwise): Courage, Truth, Honor, Wisdom, Peace, Harmony, Forgiveness, Friend, and Destiny.
